I am puzzled by this barrel! On the one hand, I love it! It shot a group of 5 rounds 5.56×45 of Armscor 55 gr, headstamp AP 22 5.56 at 1 MOA at 50 yards unsuppressed and 1-2 MOA suppressed, with a negligible shift of POI! Great!!!! On the other hand, after I started shooting ZSR and SDI ammo also in 55 gr. (all ammo used was 5.56×45) my groups started to open up to 2-3 MOA unsuppressed and 4-5 MOA suppressed with the POI all over the target at 50 yards. After about 100 rounds of mixed ZSR and SDI ammo, I returned to shooting Armscor AP22 5.56 and shot a group of 5 rounds again into 1 MOA at 50 yards. I realize, that ammo from Turkey and India is not that great, but I shot Indian SDI from my 11.5 in barrel unsuppressed AR at 50 yards with 1.5 MOA no problem. Therefore, my conclusion after shooting around 250 rounds through this barrel is that it is very selective with ammo. This barrel can be great with, in my case Armscor AP22 5.56 suppressed and unsuppressed, but totally mediocre with other ammo, in my case ZSR and SDI. I cannot wait to go back to the range and check other manufacturers’ ammo. IWI, Winchester white, and Mesko will be next….. If that ammo works like Armscor did then this barrel deserves 5 stars and thumb up! We will see…..

The results of my latest trip to the range with 10.3 in Rosco barrel. I shot 3 round group with 55 gr. 5.56×45 ammo from IWI, Winchester, Mesko, Wolf, and 62 gr XM855 green tip from LC.
Unsuppressed: 1.5 MOA at 50 yards with IWI and 62 gr. Lake City XM855. Suppressed: all groups for both ammo were about 2-2.5 MOA with a minimal shift of POI.
55 gr from Mesko was grouped at 2 MOA unsuppressed and 2.5-3 MOA suppressed. The worst was Winchesters and steel-cased Wolf also 55 gr. both at 3.5 MOA unsuppressed and 4-5 MOA
suppressed at 50 yards. After the cooling period for a few minutes, I shot Armscor 55gr, of what I used to think was cheap crap from the Philipines at 1MOA . Go figure this one…
The 1:7 rifling of this barrel favors a heavier bullet. I did not shoot either 69 or 78 gr bullets. This Rosco barrel is very well done. I like the SOCOM barrel profiling. There were no machining marks. It was well bath salt nitrided, and barrel threading was fine. There were no issues with mounting it. I checked for headspace with my bolt and found it to be perfect! All mil specs were met!
After considering all aspects of this barrel, I came to one conclusion. This barrel is perfect for a selective brand of ammo! It is easily capable of 1MOA at 50 yards and therefore about 2 MAO at 100 yards.
but only with certain ammo. I changed my rating to 4 stars!
