Purebred – 14.5″ .223 Wylde Barrel: This Rosco 14.5″ .223 Wylde Barrel was built around the M4/DMR platform and is designed to be a precision solution for shooters who require a smaller carbine which will meet multiple criteria. This barrel is perfectly suited for your next marksman carbine build. ALL NFA RULES APPLY!
Rosco Manufacturing’s “Purebred” series is a testament to precision and quality manufacturing. We took a step back to see how we could create a barrel line that would be a culmination of all the lessons learned through years of making barrels for several OEM’s. The result is a barrel that will produce results out of the box for any shooter that is looking to take their skills above and beyond. All of our Purebred barrels are made from scratch in our Rhode Island facility and start life as a blank piece of 416R stainless steel.
Aside from making our own barrel blanks, and barrel extensions, we also hold ourselves to the most stringent quality standards. This is the only way that we can make sure that we are producing a product that will perform time after time under the demanding of situations. We are setting out to re-define the rules and we plan on letting our work do the talking…

This was my first aftermarket barrel. My local gunsmith told me I had shot out my old barrel so I decided to go with something different. The package arrived promptly and in good shape and beautiful enough that I really didn’t want to cover it up with a handgaurd.
I’ve only had it a week but with just over 120 rds I can see the cost to quality ratio is high. I mostly shoot 62gr 5.56 and the groups with my basic reddot (I don’t like red dots but it’s required for my job) are way better than average. My only regret is that I will have to invest in another 1-6x to really take advantage of it. I have already started sorcing parts for his & her pistols. The barrels will come from Rosco.

I got this barrel almost a month ago, well packed and prompt. Maybe two range trips and 300+ rounds is not enough for a full review but it is enough to know that I made a good choice. I bought this to replace a barrel but already am sourcing parts for his/hers pistol builds based around ROSCO barrels. After long strings of fire it even seems to heat up less than my previous barrel. Accuracy is consistant and it performs well with quality 55gr to M855 to 77hpbt. My only regret is that I’m going to have to invest in a better optic now.

Giving this a four star only because I haven’t shot it yet. Out of the box it looks spectacular and well machined. The target crown on here is awesome and they go above and beyond and chamfer the rifling right at the end. I had to use a Geissele gas block since Rosco was back ordered but it fit perfectly and the dimple matched up just fine. The gas port hole was perfectly drilled in the barrel and everything screamed perfection. I’m excited to put some rounds through this and see what it can do.

Very pleased with the fit and finish of the barrel as well as the offering of a 1:8 twist rate. I’m only running a holographic on the weapon so I cannot squeeze out the accuracy potential of the barrel but will definitely not hesitate to purchase again for another build. One complaint that I have is that it does not cycle my cheap, junk practice ammo through it with a standard buffer assembly but this seems to be typical across the board with other brands. Brass seems to cycle just fine tho!

Quality unmatched. I have tried many other known good brands of AR15 barrels but few have been able to produce consistent accuracy across many different ammunitions. I have multiple barrels that shoot one type of ammo really good and thats it. For a person who is a shooter trying to train as much as possible I can about put anything through this and get 1.5 MOA or better. My match loads have produced .7 MOA groups easy at 100 yards. If you follow their barrel break in procedure, it really may surprise you how good it gets. I will say that some may complain about the gas port being a little small I personally don’t have any issues with it. Running the Vltor A5 rifle spring and A5H2 buffer works great. I have spend almost 1k on finding a barrel that will do what this does. Good job Rosco!
